Crime Prevention Program - Illegal Discharge of Firearms <br /> <br />Deputy Police Chief Hansen presented a proposed Crime Prevention Program <br />with respect to the illegal discharge of firearms in the City. He indicated <br />the proposed program would link education and enforcement efforts, with <br />media information distributed just prior to the major holidays at which <br />illegal shootings increased, and would entail the assignment of additional <br />personnel during these periods. <br /> <br />Councilmembers agreed to defer action on the related agenda item (Item No. <br />19.C.) until the Evening Session, in order to better inform the public <br />regarding the program. <br /> <br />Consent Calendar Review <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed concerns relative to Consent Calendar items. <br /> <br />At 3:59 p.m., the Council recessed and reconvened in the Council Chambers at <br />4:12 p.m., with all Councilmembers present except Councilmember Acosta. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />The Mayor requested that the Minutes reflect that Councilmember Acosta's <br />absence had been excused.
