MINU?ES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />APRIL 20, 1987 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:15 p.m. in Room 423, City Hall, 20 <br />Civic Center Plaza by Mayor Dan Young. Councilmembers present were John <br />Acosta, Ron May, Patricia A. McGuigan, Miguel A. Pulido and Mayor Young. <br />Also present were City Manager David N. Ream, Assistant City Attorney <br />Richard Lay, and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />Councilmember Daniel E. Griset joined the meeting at 2:23 p.m., City <br />Attorney Edward J. Cooper at 4:03 p.m., and Councilmember Wilson B. Hart <br />at the Evening Session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY SESSION <br />Skateboard Ordinance <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Rex Swanson distributed a memo entitled Skateboard <br />Ordinance and Placement of Markers on Public Facilities, which had been <br />prepared by staff in response to a request from Councilmember Acosta. <br />Councilmember Acosta explained that a recent accident involvin~ = <br />skateboarder in the City of Orange had caused him to hav~ concern that <br />Santa Ana might not have restrictions on this activity. The Public Works <br />Director informed Councilmember Acosta that the Santa Aha Munlc~pa! Code <br />prohibited skateboarding on or over any roadway as defined by the <br />California Vehicle Code, but encouraged Councilmember Acosta to contact <br />the Public Works Department should he be aware of any location where <br />prohibitory signs should be installed. <br /> <br />City-School District Liaison Update <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that he, Vice Mayor McGuigan, and Councilmember May <br />had recently attended a meeting with representatives of the Santa Ana <br />Unified School District regarding the funds the City had agreed to <br />provide the District for additional classrooms. He indicated the <br />District had not yet reached consensus with regard to all of the projects <br />to be funded from this source, but had agreed that construction of <br />Sepulveda School and a pool at Century High School were among the top <br />priorities. Mayor Young indicated further discussions would take place, <br />particularly with regard to the pool, and that he would update the <br />Council as meetings progressed. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />97 APRIL 20, 1987 <br /> <br /> <br />
