We have a vital interest in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment that is as free as
possible from the damaging effects of drug and alcohol use by employees or leasees. In
addition, the federal government has issued regulations (adopted by various state and local
governments) requiring employers to institute, under certain conditions, a drug free work-
place policy. In order to further these objectives, A -Taxi Cab will adopt this Substance
Abuse Policy. This policy applies to all full time, part time, and temporary and casual em-
ployees and leasees of A Taxi Cab and it's subcontractors, regardless of rank or position.
Procedure
A Taxi Cab prohibits any and all of the following activities when they occur on Company premises or
job sites, or while an employee or leasee is performing job duties, operating Company equipment, or
participating in Company sponsored events, or while the employee or lessee is otherwise acting in
the scope and course of employment or lease duties:
1. The possession, manufacture, dispensing, use, purchase or sale of illegal drugs,
alcoholic beverages, or illegally obtained prescription drugs, or the assistance of
another employee/leasee in doing so.
2. The possession, manufacturer, dispensing, use, purchase or sale of paraphernalia that
are used to conceal, manufacture, inject, ingest, inhale, or otherwise introduce into the
human body an illegal drug, or the assistance or another employee/leasee in doing so.
3. Reporting to work operating company equipment, or performing job duties while
under the influence of illegally obtained prescription drugs.
4. Reporting to work operating Company equipment, or performing job duties while
under the influence of legally obtained prescription or over the counter drugs, where
there is a possibility that the medication will impair the employee's or leasee's ability
to safely perform his or her job, or the medication may adversely affect his or her
safety or that of other clients or employees. Employees or leasees who must take such
medication while working must advise their direct supervisor in writing of the pos-
sible effects of this medication regarding his or her job performance and or mental
abilities, prior to commencing duty.
An employee or leasee is considered to be "performing job duties" for purposes of this Policy when-
ever he or she is:
1. On A Taxi Cab or a client's premises or job sites, including parking lots, at any time,
or while participating in an off - premise Company sponsored event;
2. Driving or riding as a passenger in an A Taxi Cab vehicle or in a non -A Taxi Cab
vehicle on behalf of A Taxi Cab and/or pursuant to his/her duties.
