I. Substance Abuse Policv <br />Purpose <br />A Taxi Cab has a vital interest in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment that is as <br />free as possible from the damaging effects of drug and alcohol use by employees or leasees. <br />In addition, the federal government has issued regulations (adopted by various state and local <br />governments) requiring employers to institute, under certain conditions, a drug free <br />workplace policy. In order to further these objectives, A -Taxi Cab has adopted this Substance <br />Abuse Policy. This policy applies to all frill time, part time, and temporary and casual <br />employees and leasees of A Taxi Cab and it's subcontractors, regardless of rank or position. <br />Procedure <br />A Taxi Cab prohibits any and all of the following activities when they occur on Company <br />premises or job sites, or while an employee or lessee is performing job duties, operating <br />Company equipment, or participating in Company sponsored events, or while the employee <br />or leasee is otherwise acting in the scope and course of employment or lease duties: <br />1. The possession, manufacture, dispensing, use, purchase or sale of illegal <br />drugs, alcoholic beverages, or illegally obtained prescription drugs, or the <br />assistance of another employee/leasee in doing so. <br />2. The possession, manufacturer, dispensing, use, purchase or sale of <br />paraphernalia that are used to conceal, manufacture, inject, ingest, inhale, or <br />otherwise introduce into the human body an illegal drug, or the assistance or <br />another employce/leasee in doing so. <br />3. Reporting to work operating company equipment, or performing job duties <br />while under the influence of illegally obtained prescription drugs. <br />4. Reporting to work operating Company equipment, or performing job duties <br />while under the influence of legally obtained prescription or over the counter <br />drugs, where there is a possibility that the medication will impair the <br />employee's or leasee's ability to safely perform his or her job, or the <br />medication may adversely affect his or her safety or that of other clients or <br />employees. Employces or leasees who must take such medication while <br />working must advise their direct supervisor in writing of the possible effects <br />of this medication regarding his or her job performance and or mental <br />abilities, prior to commencing duty. <br />An employee or lessee is considered to be "performing, job duties" for purposes of this Policy <br />when -ever he or she is: <br />1. On A Taxi Cab or a client's premises or job sites, including parking lots, at <br />any time, or while participating in an off - premise Company sponsored event; <br />
