Everything shown in light yellow is the
un- incorporated portion of the County of Orange. The other cities are shown in
various colors. Those colors are not unique to that city, but will be duplicated
elsewhere for non - adjoining cities. If two cities share boundaries they will have
different colors such as Mission Viejo, and Newport Beach. Yet if they are
separated they may share the same color such as Huntington Beach and Orange.
You will also note that addresses are listed every few blocks so that you can route
yourself via main streets to the nearest address to where you are going on a side, or
main, street. The communities are listed in large blue print over their areas. Parks
are shown in green. You will also find shopping centers located on these pages.
Some streets are too small to list information. In that case you will find a triangle
with a letter "A", `B ", etc. and a grid number where the information for that street
is listed. List of Abbreviations used in the "Detail Pages ", i.e. CC for Chamber of
Commerce, etc. Next comes the "Orange County Street Index -with zip codes ". If a street is 21 Street it
will be listed numerically after the alphabetical listings. However, if, as in
Pasadena, the street is called "Avenue 51 " then you must look it up alphabetically.
This index will fist the street followed by various addresses, depending on how
long the street is. This allows you to find the address closest to where you are
going. Next to the address is the city or community of that address.
In each category for each listing you will find the address, city or community, zip
code, telephone number(if any) and the page and grid where it is located on the
detail page.
Some quick hints: Multi- use facilities such as the Pond or Irvine Meadows are
listed under Entertainment & Sports. Dedicated theatrical or music venues are listed
under Performing Arts.
If you can not find what you are looking for in the category that makes sense to
you, check "Buildings ", Building - Governmental (if applicable) and then "Points
of Interest" or "Points of Interest - Historic". Ninety nine percent of the time you
will find that for which you are looking in one of those categories.
If the place you are looking for is downtown or you don't know where it is, check
the front "Downtown Orange County" section listings first before you look in the
back. It only takes five seconds to look at the front section and may give you
quicker results.
11
