<br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />90A PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Alma Ramirez and James Robert Reade addressed the Council with <br />concerns not generally within the jurisdiction of the City Council. At this <br />time Ms. Ramirez was also given the opportunity to address the Housing <br />Authority and Community Redevelopment Agency relative to items not <br />listed on the Agenda but within the jurisdiction of the Authority or Agency <br /> <br />Tim Rush raised concerns about the need for additional code enforcement <br />resources and the need to move more quickly to correct problems such as <br />shopping carts <br /> <br />Jade Howe and Esmeralda Howe related concerns about the pace of <br />redevelopment in the downtown <br /> <br />Lisann Martinez and Cherise Paluso recited the need for more public <br />safety and more help in the neighborhoods <br /> <br />Beckie Welty, representing the Orange County Human Relations <br />Commission, presented the Commission's 2004-2005 annual report <br /> <br />Sam Romero and Joe Andrade thanked the Council for the recent <br />upgrades in the Logan neighborhood <br /> <br />90.B. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER GARCIA <br />· Thanked staff for their efforts in making the Rubber Boot Race a <br />success <br />· Announced that there would be a volunteer tree planting event at <br />Thornton Park on Saturday, February 11, 2006 <br />· Expressed concerns about code enforcement activity and stated that <br />livability issues were very important to all Santa Ana residents <br />· Noted that while redevelopment efforts in the downtown were gradual <br />there are currently several ongoing projects and developments in the <br />area <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER SOLORIO <br />· Noted that change may appear to occur slowing in the city but there <br />have been significant changes that have recently occurred including <br />improvements on 1st and Main, the Farmers Market, sidewalks in <br />South Main, and the One Broadway Plaza project which should begin <br />construction this summer <br />· Asked staff from Code Enforcement and the Fire Department to <br />investigate whether individuals are living in the Spurgeon building <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />40 <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 6, 2006 <br />
