CITY COUNCIL COn,tENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Norton requested the City Manager work with adjacent <br />jurisdictions re§ardin§ a joint effort to ban fireworks. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan indicated she thought the City would be in a better <br />position to influence a fireworks ban if Santa Ana itself banned fireworks. <br /> <br />Noting Santa Ana's prominence in a recent article featured in Time, "Death <br />by Gun," Councilmember May requested staff develop a plan to r~e gang <br />and drug problems. He also expressed concern regarding the extensive time <br />period which had elapsed (eight months) since the application by Tommy's <br />Hamburger Stand on S. Bristol for a change in its permit to allow the sale <br />of chicken items. <br /> <br />Councilmember May requested the City Attorney provide the Council with an <br />opinion as to whether the Council could review a site plan decision by the <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta indicated he had placed the item concerning the Gay <br />Pride Festival and Parade on the Agenda to increase the awareness of Santa <br />Aha citizens concerning the issue, and reported an analysis of <br />correspondence received on the issue from Santa Aha residents indicated <br />95% of those residents were opposed to the event.
