90.C. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Griset complimented his colleagues on the budget decision <br />relative to gang diversion funding. <br /> <br />Councilmember May expressed his support for the Police Department, and <br />expressed optimism regarding the budget decisions relative to that <br />department. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta requested the Police Department work with Dr. Davis <br />regarding drug enforcement in the area adjacent to her school, increase <br />enforcement on a site adjacent to John F. Kennedy School (under <br />construction). <br /> <br />Councilmember Norton complimented his colleagues on the Council's decision <br />to increase public safety services in the Fiscal Year 1989-90 Budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido requested the Council and audience observe a moment <br />of silence in memory of Laurel Stephens, a community activist who had <br />recently passed away. He also thanked the Councilmembers for their <br />cooperation in approving the Fiscal Year 1989-90 Budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan thanked Councilmember Pulido for his efforts in <br />advocating on the City's behalf relative to a sales tax for construction <br />of a jail facility outside of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested the Council review its procedures with respect to <br />the Public Comments section of the Agenda.
