<br />LES 3110106 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-014 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDS <br />FOR THE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITY <br />(TEA) PROGRAM UNDER THE 1998 TRANSPORTATION <br />EQUITY ACT FOR THE 21sT CENTURY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The United States Congress enacted the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, <br />Efficient, Transportation Equity Act - legacy for Users June 1998, <br />replacing the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century which make <br />funds available to the Orange county Transportation Authority (OCTA) for <br />transportation enhancement activities. The goal of the TEA Program is to <br />help cities better integrate transportation facilities into their infrastructure <br />and provide an overall better quality of life. <br /> <br />B. The total estimated funding amount for this cycle is $8.2 million, divided <br />into two program areas which will receive $4.1 million each over two <br />years. The two program areas are Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities, and <br />landscaping and Scenic Beautification. <br /> <br />C. The Public Works Agency and Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency are submitting applications for five projects under the two <br />program areas. The projects are as follows: <br /> <br />1. MacArthur Boulevard Golden loop Trail Head landscaping <br />2. Main Street Archway Sign <br />3. Maple Street Bike Trail Enhancement Project <br />4. Santa Ana Depot Art Wall <br />5. Santiago Creek Bike Trail Gap Closure and Enhancement <br /> <br />D. The City of Santa Ana will maintain and operate the property acquired, <br />developed, rehabilitated or restored for the life of the facility(ies) or activity; <br />and the Public Works Agency understands that it may only transfer the <br />responsibility to maintain and operate the property with the approval of the <br />California Department of Transportation (CaITrans) and OCTA. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006-014 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
