rtZ • • City of Santa Ana <br />w� •�� r., On -Call Traffic Engineering <br />Project Understanding <br />The Willdan/WPA team offers the City of Santa Ana the know-how of having <br />performed City Traffic Engineering services for dozens of other agencies in <br />southern California. The experience of the staff in providing services to <br />agencies, as well as their overall experience, provides a background of <br />knowledge in all areas of municipal traffic engineering. <br />Traffic engineering cannot be done in a vacuum; coordination and cooperation <br />with planning, enforcement and engineering functions, as well as outside <br />agencies, are necessary. Traffic Design Work <br />All plans will be prepared in accordance with the City of Santa Ana appropriate <br />Standard Plans. Research will involve record drawings of street and existing <br />signal improvements and utility companies. Areas of concern could require <br />further investigation by potholing either during the design phase or by the <br />Contractor at the beginning of construction. Field research will obtain the <br />location and description of visible facilities, including potential overhead conflicts. <br />Signal plans prepared at a scale of 1" = 20', or equivalent metrical scale, will <br />show all tables, notes, schedules, and details necessary to clearly define the <br />intended installation. Signal modification designs will include existing equipment <br />from record drawings, which will be verified by comprehensive field research. <br />Signal designs will be supplemented by written technical special provisions. <br />Electronic files provided by the City will be edited to accommodate the particular <br />design(s). The City will provide the specification boilerplate. <br />Striping and signing plans will be prepared showing two street segments on each <br />sheet. Existing striping, signing, pavement markings and curb markings will be <br />shown on the design plans. Driveways would be shown where left turn <br />channelization or restricted movements -occur. New striping would be shown <br />using bold line work, supplemented by notes and details. Existing facilities will <br />WILLDAN <br />Page 12 <br />
