Councilmember Norton publicly thanked the Mayor for coming to his defense and that of the <br />other Councilmembers at the last Council meeting by admonishing speakers on the floor to <br />refrain from making personal attacks on Councilmembers. Councilmember Norton also <br />offered a $1,000 reward for information regarding a mailbox fire which occurred at his <br />residence on November 17, 1991. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested staff prepare a letter of opposition concerning Comcast's proposal to <br />scramble its basic service and also requested the City's cable consultant inform him of what <br />technology was available to measure and respond to cable theft. <br /> <br />Councilmember Richardson noted that Comcast had not responded to his request for <br />information regarding the impact of unscrambled cable signals on air traffic safety. <br /> <br />RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 9:18 P.M. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced that the City Council was recessing to Closed Session <br />pursuant to: <br /> <br />Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with the City Attorney regarding pending <br />litigation which had been initiated formally to which the City was a party, to wit: <br /> <br /> Gomez vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) <br /> Battan vs. City of Santa Ana <br /> <br />Government Code Section 54956.9(b)(1) regarding pending litigation of significant exposure. <br /> <br />RECONVENED - COUNCIL CHAMBERS - 9:25 P.M. - All Councilmembers present. <br /> <br />70.A. <br /> <br />Motion: <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION REPORT <br /> <br />Autho~ze settlements as follows: <br /> <br />Battan vs. City of Santa Ana, as authorized by the Council in Closed Session on <br />November 4, 1991 in the amount of $85,000.00. <br /> <br />Gomez vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation), stipulation in the <br />amount of $14,420.00. <br /> <br />Claim 91-134, Darlene A.
