<br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />PARK DEVELOPMENT/JOINT USE <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />January 4, 2005 <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />The meeting was convened at 5:55 p.m. in the City Hall, Room 831. <br /> <br />The following Council Members were present: <br /> <br />Jose Solorio <br />Mike Garcia <br />Claudia Alvarez <br /> <br />Staffs present were: Gerardo Mouet, Exec. Director PRCSA <br />Mike Vigliotta, Deputy City Attorney <br />Ron Ono, Administrative Services Mgr., PRCSA <br />Ron Glazier, SA Zoo Director, PRCSA <br />Suzi Fwjanic, Associate Park Planner <br />Mike McCoy, Santa Ana Police Department <br /> <br />Guest present: Maggie Brown, Recreation and Parks Board member <br />Joe Bonilla, Bonilla Promotions <br />Estela Bonilla, Bonilla Promotions <br /> <br />I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Minutes of October 5, 2005 meeting were approved as submitted. <br /> <br />2. SANTA ANA STADIUM PROGRAMS <br />Staff presented the Stadium report and revenues. The stadium is home to five local high <br />school football teams and the Santa Ana College football team. Approximately 73 events are <br />held at the stadium each year. <br /> <br />The stadium revenue for calendar year 2004 was $62,800 and the Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Agency plans to increase the revenue in 2005 with a number of events <br />at the stadium. One of the major events that will be held at the stadium on March 6th is a <br />rodeo and concert funded by Bonilla Promotions. Mr. Bonilla presented his proposal and <br />shared his experience with other events. The City Attorney requested to review Bonilla's list <br />of animals to ensure it meets the city ordinance requirements. Beer will be sold at the event, <br />and as part of the agreement, the promoter will be required to pay the Friends of Parks and <br />Recreation $5,000 plus 10 percent of the beer sales revenue. The combined security cost for <br />this event will be approximately $35,000. The promoter anticipates the event will draw <br />approximately 8,000 spectators. <br />ACTION ITEM: Recommend staff present at the next or after March 6th the actual police <br />cost for this event. <br /> <br />City Council Committee on I <br />Park Development/Joint Use Facilities - Minutes <br /> <br />January 4, 2005 <br />
