COMMENTS <br /> <br />Joan Wilkinson, 1151 W. Riviera, opined that the environmental review for a new <br />intermediate school on the Bristol Marketplace site was insufficient, and expressed her <br />opposition to construction of a school on that site. Mayor Young acknowledged Wilkinson's <br />concerns, indicated he had already discussed the project with Santa Ana Unified School <br />District Superintendent Rudy Castruita, and expressed hope the City's concerns regarding the <br />proposed school would be addressed. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan reported a citizen complaint of inadequate Police response to loud <br />noisy radios which she indicated she would forward to the Police Chief, and wished everyone <br />a Happy Holiday Season. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz reported his recent participation in a Code Enforcement "ride along," <br />and suggested the Police Department assist Code Enforcement staff in cases of repeat <br />violations. He also described some home safety tips for use during the Holiday Season. <br /> <br />Councilmember Richardson noted development of an intermediate school on the EECO site <br />in the Chestnut/Grand area had been made possible through the Community Redevelopment <br />Agency's assistance. He also requested staff arrange for recognition of two Santa Ana High <br />School students who had qualified as State finalists in cross-country track. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Pulido commended Santa Ana businessman Rneben Martinez on the opening <br />of his new Hispanic bookstore in the Downtown. <br /> <br />Councilmember Mills wished everyone a Happy Holiday. <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno: <br /> <br />-reported he would be touring several community centers in the Los Angeles <br />area in preparation for development of additional youth centers in several of the <br />City's parks, beginning with an initial project at'Rosita Park; <br /> <br />-noted that Downtown merchants held differing opinions with respect to his <br />suggestion that restrooms be installed in the Downtown shopping area and <br />requested staff prepare a report on the matter; and <br /> <br />-requested staff investigate street vendors operating without permits in the Fiesta <br />Marketplace area. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested the City Manager work with Archangel Michael Coptic Church to <br />solve a parking problem in the neighborhood adjacent to the Church. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL M1NUTES 402 DECEMBER 20, 1993 <br /> <br /> <br />
