Ed Danoff reported difficulties with his plan to install a fence at 1323 N. Broadway. In <br />response to Mayor Young's request, Assistant City Attorney Lay indicated he would provide <br />Danoff with a legal opinion regarding the specific authority staff was acting under in <br />requiring a variance for the fence. <br /> <br />Alex Vega reported staff had rejected his request to hold a 10-day Christmas festival at the <br />Santa Ana Stadium and requested the Council intervene. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno requested staff provide him with the tree planting schedule for <br />Wright Street between First and Fourth Streets. He also reported a tree limb had fallen off <br />the jacaranda in his front yard due to no apparent cause and requested staff investigate as a <br />possible safety hazard. <br /> <br />Councilmember Mills requested an update on her request for staff to investigate the use of <br />volunteers to aid Code Enforcement staff. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Pulido requested Code Enforcement investigate a complaint he had received <br />regarding auto repair work being done at N. Ross and Santa Clara in a residential <br />neighborhood. <br /> <br />Councilmember Richardson reported Continental Plastics has expanded its business <br />operations by leasing a large portion of the Kerr Glass site, and encouraged staff to help find <br />tenants for the site's remaining floor area. Richardson also requested staff schedule a future <br />Council meeting presentation on a proposal by several Recreation and Park Board members <br />for an Adopt-a-Park program. <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Lutz' inquiry regarding the landscaping schedule for the John <br />Garthe Reservoir, Water Resources Manager Lee Harry reported permanent landscaping was <br />included in Phase II of the project, but that interim landscaping would be installed along the <br />project perimeters. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan commended the French Park/French Court Neighborhood on its <br />recent successful neighborhood fair and thanked City departments for participating in the <br />event. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 8:03 P.M. <br /> <br />The Brown Act permits the City Council to discuss certain matters without members of the <br />public present, provided the items to be discussed are posted 72 hours prior to the City <br />Council meeting.
