It is our intent thac this outline provides
enough detail so qur approach is clearly defined. It should be noted thar this scope is based on the City's RFP
dated April 7, 2006, our field reviews, past expetience and our undetstanding of the project. We would welcome
the opportunity to discuss additions, deletions Of revisions with City staff

~-~--;:,:;';1~:':;>'i

~~;;;Ef{{.','"

",;I'>

Phase I: Orientation/Data Collection/Base Sheets

Task A. Kick-off Meeting and Data Gathering

1. Meet with City staff and hold a "kickoff" meeting. Our approach as well as design criteria, requirements
and procedures would be discussed and direction from the City staff would be obtained. We will confirm the
preferred design approach based on the City's preferences, the projecr schedule would also be reviewed and
meeting minutes would be prepared.

2. Collect the latest City widening exhibits, record plans and any additional information, including the existing
traffic signal plans at McFadden Avenue and Bishop Srreet, an elecrronic copy of the City's latest "From End"
specifications and a recent similar sample techn.ical provisions specification.

3. Contact the aCTA bus stop coordinator, Bill Batory, and affected utility companies (from a USA list to
be sure we have notified all possible utility owners in the project area) to obtain the latest utility location
information, especially for any known shallow utilities. We would use our present storm drain plans as a
starring point and send these to the affected utility companies for them to compare and confirm against their
records. Where possible we will begin the coordination efforts for the anticipated maintenance, relocations and
utility undergrounding WOtk. The information that is collecred would be compared to the surface / sub-surface
utilities already shown on Harris base sheets from the Bristol Street Storm Drain project.

4. Set up a utility coordination meeting with City staff and all affected utility owners to put them on notice as to
the City's schedules and required timelines for the relocation effortS. A little extra "hand holding" up front will
go a long way toward the required coordination and cooperation with all of affected utility owners.

5. Prepare a firm schedule and rhe first monthly sratus report.

Task B: Topographic Survey

KDM Meridian will begin their surveying work by gathering and reviewing previous surveys and controls in the
project area, as obtained from the City, County Surveyor's office and various other sources. Then they will perform
the following tasks:

1. Project Start-Up.

a) Meet with Harris & Associates staff to kick.off project and discuss details and schedule.

b) Research at City & County Surveyorsl Offices for vertical & horizontal control, centerline tie-sheets
and record mapping.

2. Datum.

a) Vertical. NAVD-88 based on City of Santa Ana bench mark.

b) Horizontal: CCS.83 based on County of Orange reference stations.

= I Harris & Associates.

Bristol Corridor Widening - Phase I
Page-9-
