<br />STAFF REPORTS <br /> <br />The Ad hoc committee will then reconvene and hope to present a candidate at the April <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Copies of the Social Compact article are available. The Annual Federal Empowerment <br />Zone Weed & Seed 2005 Subdivision Annual Report is also available and Linda <br />Summers will be taking it to a Workforce Conference in Washington, D.C. next week. <br />The Report will also be provided to Senators and elected officials in Sacramento. <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS - None <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />REYNA <br />Reminded everyone of the upcoming neighborhood 6th Annual Heroes <br />event and indicated new hours this year to accommodate more people. <br /> <br />Informed the Board that a discussion with a financial industry <br />representative had indicated that First Bank has expressed interest in <br />coming to Santa Ana. <br /> <br />METZLER <br />Announced that a Bank of America branch will be moving to 4th and Main <br />SI. In addition, another business bank will be coming to Santa Ana <br />focusing on the Latino marketplace, however the location is not available <br />at this time. <br /> <br />HERNANDEZ <br />Announced the Pio Pico annual Education and Literacy Fair would take <br />place on Saturday March 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. <br /> <br />EMPOWERMENT ZONE MANAGER SANCHEZ <br />Reported that February 11th was an Earned Income Tax Day Initiative with <br />five sites participating and working with Latino Health Access and United <br />Way. She worked at Corbin Center and many people participated in filing <br />their taxes and received credits. <br /> <br />The nex1lnitiative is April 15, 2006. To get the word out, the City is in the <br />process of working at targeting some local businesses to distribute the <br />information with pay stubs. <br /> <br />ANTON <br />Indicated that the Social Compact article determined a large percentage of <br />people did not have banking relationships.
