<br />Resolution Authorizing <br />Participation in the Habitat <br />Conservation Fund Program <br />September S, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />grasses, wild rose, and additional trees, and improvements to the <br />existing irrigation system. <br /> <br />The Cienega de las Ranas Habitat Restoration Proj ect at Thornton Park <br />consists of the re-creation of the historic ecological conditions of the <br />site. The project will enhance the freshwater marsh habitat, both <br />surrounding the lake and to the east of the lake, and connect the flood <br />control channel to the lake with a band of native wetland and riparian <br />habitat. To accomplish this, non-native exotic grasses will be removed, <br />and native plants, along with plant and wildlife interpretive signage <br />will be installed. <br /> <br />The Centennial peninsula Waterfowl Sanctuary Project at Centennial Park <br />consists of the re-creation of ecological conditions conducive to the <br />nesting of waterfowl currently at the site, which has the potential to <br />attract additional species.
