90B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Coun¢ilmember Espinoza reported he and Councilmember Moreno attended the recent College <br />Night held at Valley High. Espinoza congratulated the college recruiters, organizers and students <br />on a successful event, and particularly thanked the parents for supporting and encouraging their <br />children to go to college. <br /> <br />Councilmember Mills congratulated Councilmember Espinoza and his wife Aida on their first baby <br />due in May 1996. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson requested sta~ <br /> <br />investigate a reported traffic hazard created by a "sandwich board" sign on <br />Main Street at Stevens Avenue; <br /> <br />follow through on the Mayor's request to rename the Thornton Barrier-Free <br />Park in honor of the Santa Aha Kiwanis; and <br /> <br />provide a schedule of City charges for projects forwarded to Council for <br />approval. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson also congratulated Councilmember Espinoza on his upcoming <br />fatherhood and noted he and his wife Vivien were celebrating their 10th Wedding Anniversary in <br />October. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan suggested the facility under construction at Rosita Park be named the <br />Riverview West Community Center. McGuigan thanked Mayor Pulido for signing a proclamation <br />declaring "Thelma Adams Gammel Day" in honor of Ms. Gammel's 100th birthday. <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Moreno's queries, Public Works Agency Executive Director Jim <br />Ross provided an update on the Tustin Avenue street improvement project and also indicated the <br />City would send water bills to unauthorized parties tapping fire hydrants. <br /> <br />Moreno then requested staff: <br /> <br />investigate reports of illegal occupancy at 2828 N. Bristol; <br /> <br />look into allegations that neighborhood residents were barred from attending <br />Environmental and Transportation Advisory Sub-Committee meetings; <br /> <br />draft a resolution or ordinance that would create a citizens' panel to review art <br />selections prior to display at the Artists Village (since public funds were being <br />used to subsidize the project); and <br /> <br />follow up on his proposal to establish a citizens' City Finance Committee. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 302 OCTOBER 16, 1995 <br /> <br /> <br />
