COMMENTS <br /> <br />complimented Planning and Building, Community Development, and <br />Recreation and Community Services staff for their support of the April 27 <br />"Christmas in April" community painting project; <br /> <br />- commented on the number of positive community events such as the recent <br /> Pet Adopt-A-Thon and the Imagination Celebration; <br /> <br />- congratulated retiring City Attorney Ed Cooper for his long and excellent <br /> service to the City; and <br /> <br />- wished his wife Vivien a Happy Birthday on May 7! <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br /> <br />- also expressed congratulations to Police Chief Walters; <br /> <br />- commended Alberta Christy for her efforts in promoting community <br /> job fairs; <br /> <br />- amplified on Councilmember Richardson's list of positive community <br /> events by adding Volunteer Connection Day, Special Olympics at Mater <br /> Dei High School, and the "HUG" day sponsored by Western Medical Center. <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno: <br /> <br />- expressed support for Rancho Santiago pool use by neighborhood children; <br /> <br />- thanked the Alona Park Neighborhood Association for asking him to <br /> participate in its fundraiser; <br /> <br />- related an incident at the Alona park event wherein a City firefighter had made <br /> disparaging remarks about his Council position, then requested City Manager <br /> David Ream and Fire Chief Marc Martin to admonish City staff regarding uncivil <br /> conduct towards City public officials. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido commended stafffor successfully securing a $200,000 grant to develop Fallbrook <br />Park and requested City Manager Ream and stalTwork with the neighborhood to determine how <br />the funds should be used. <br /> <br />RECESSED - CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 8:34 P.M. <br /> <br />The Brown Act permits the City Council to discuss certain matters without members o£the public <br />present, provided the items to be discussed are posted 72 hours prior to the City Council meeting. <br />The following item was received for the May 6, 1996 Closed Session. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 169 MAY 6, 1996 <br /> <br /> <br />
