a. Ground cover beds shall be maintained within their intended bounds, <br />edged and/or detailed every week. Maintain a 12" clearance <br />between different plant material. <br />b. Ground covers shall not be permitted to encroach into lawns, shrubs, <br />adjacent desirable baze areas, wall fixtures, furniture, other ground <br />cover areas, etc. All sites shall be cleaned following each <br />edging/detailing, including streets and sidewalks (when applicable). <br />2) Fertilization <br />a. All ground cover beds shall be fertilized using a complete or <br />approved fertilizer (such as 16-6-8 Turf Supreme) four (4) times per <br />year. The rate of application shall be two (2) pounds of actual <br />nitrogen per 1,000 squaze feet. Proof of application in the form of <br />empty fertilizer bags may be requested at any time by the Director. <br />Advanced notice shall be given the Director prior to performing this <br />task. <br />3) Renovation <br />a. Ground cover beds shall be thinned and pruned, separated and/or <br />relocated for the health of the planting and the appeazance of the site, <br />and at such other times when directed by the Director. Infill <br />planting of bare groundcover areas shall be replanted in the <br />months of March through June with flats of the same species one <br />time per year as part of routine maintenance at no additional <br />cost to the City. <br />4) Cultivation and Mulch <br />a. All bare soil or open areas shall be either cultivated weekly or <br />covered by a minimum of two (2) inches of mulch. All mulch <br />material shall be of a recycled product free from foreign grasses and <br />weeds and shall be approved by the City. At no time shall weeds be <br />allowed to remain in bare or planted areas. <br />5) Replanting <br />a. The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete removal and <br />replacement of ground cover lost due to normal attrition or to <br />Contractor's faulty maintenance or negligence, as determined by the <br />Director, at no additional cost to the City <br />6) Watering <br />a. All ground cover shall be properly irrigated to maintain a healthy <br />condition. Ground cover areas shall be deeply watered as required <br />by weather conditions to provide adequate moisture for optimum <br />18 <br />
