plant establishment period. The deletion of this portion of work will be <br />reflected as a reduction in the monthly payment to the contractor. The <br />amount of reduction will be based on the percentage of area involved <br />and agreed upon by the City and the Contractor. <br />3) Inspection <br />a. The City and Contractor's supervisor shall inspect weekly the work <br />area to ensure adequacy of maintenance and that methods of <br />performing the work aze in compliance with the contract. However, <br />this shall not be construed to relieve the Contractor's supervisor of <br />the duty to provide continuous insnection of the work area. <br />Contractor shall provide a dedicated supervisor to Santa Ana for this <br />contract. Discrepancies and deficiencies in the work shall be <br />corrected by the Contractor immediately. The City expects a high <br />level of service and maintenance. <br />4) Emergency Service <br />a. Twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, the Contractor <br />shall be able to receive and respond to the City's call for emergency <br />service. Response time shall be immediate but not less than two <br />hours to remove or eliminate a public safety hazard. Contractor shall <br />provide the City with a local telephone number where contractor can <br />be contacted twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. <br />5) New Maintenance Areas <br />a. Additional routine maintenance may be added to this contract. <br />Payment for add-on maintenance shall be computed on a square foot <br />cost per contract bid prices <br />6) Arterial Sidewalk Maintenance <br />a. Contractor shall remove all weeds in the sidewalk and tree well <br />areas, remove sucker growth on parkway and sidewalk trees, trim <br />vines along walls so as not to allow plant material to impede <br />pedestrian traffic or grow onto sidewalk areas, and remove any <br />debris and trash weekly. Contractor shall spray apre-emergent to <br />discourage future weed growth. Additional arterial sidewalk <br />maintenance may be added to this contract. Payment for add on <br />maintenance shall be computed on a lineal foot cost per contract bid <br />prices. <br />I. ANNUALS <br />1) Areas designated for annuals planting shall be rotated on a quarterly basis. <br />2) Appearance of designated areas shall be kept fresh and vigorous at all times. <br />27 <br />
