Students will train 3 days per week dill ring after-school hours, and/or <br />weelLends, two hours per day during a period of one year. WL i\ participants will receive a minimum <br />of 1 hr of basic skills (structured one-one one literacy tutoring Jlnd small group instruction) each day <br />they aucnd the program, and 1 hour of artistic and/or technolog:' training. After a period of 6 months <br />ofrr,,-ining. all W1A participants will be provided an opportunit" to transition into a "mentoringjob" <br />OCCTAC will train and supervise WiA participants into paid/wnpaid positions contingent upon <br />partil~ipants' literacy development. and perfonnance levels as SWIted in their individual educational <br />plans <br /> <br />IlIu:;;,ratc how the organization will interfaee with the Santa Ana VI/OIRIK Center. <br />OCCTAC will collaborate with the Santa Ana Unified School Dlistrict and the County of Orange to <br />recrwit and refer potential WLA participants to the Santa Ana W IO!R/K Center for eligibility <br />dete:mmation. <br /> <br />Descoribe how the participant flow will occur. <br />Part,~ipants will be invited to participate three days per week (w1ith a minimum of 2 days attendance <br />per ..;;'Ieek). AUendance days/times will vary according to the acaillemicibasic needs of the students, <br />clas" preference, personal interests, availability, and assessment results. WLA participants will attend <br />the pcogram 3 days per week 2 hours each day. For example: 'wiondays. Wednesdays. and Fridays <br />(4:3' _ 6:30) or Tuesday, Thursdays (4:30 - 6:30) and Saturday's (l :00 - 3:00p.m.). WIA participants <br />will "ngage in an integrated program that offers students classes in the arts. literacy, technology, and <br />memwring in educational settings. \VIA participants will receive a mirlimum of 1 hr. of basic skills <br />(structured one-one one literacy tutoring and small group instruction) each day they attend the <br />pro:: am. and 1 hour of artistic and/or technology training. There are staff memb\ers available on site at all times <br />mOErloring the operational activities, including safety concernscand the Santa Ana Police Department <br />worke will1 the Center as a community partner.
