noted interested parties could obtain information on the upcoming Floral <br />Park Home and Garden Tour on April 26 and 27 by calling (714) 547-9315 <br />or accessing Floral Park's website at http//www.floralpark.com; <br /> <br />indicated a group of students from the University of Leon, Mexico visiting <br />Santa Ana had been particularly interested in City methods used to encourage <br />volunteerism; and <br /> <br />- requested the removal of graffiti on a short wall on Bristol Street north of <br /> Edinger. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz: <br /> <br />- reported the Santa Ana Historic Preservation Society now had historic theme <br /> afghans available for sale; and <br /> <br />- expressed his sympathy to the family of Howard Beatty, a community resident <br /> active in the Santa Ana Little League, Elks Club and business community, who <br /> had recently passed away and requested the Council meeting be adjourned in <br /> Beatty's honor. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br /> <br />congratulated Economic Development Manager Patti Nunn and Private <br />Industry Council member Jon Dietz on their appointment to Governor Pete <br />Wilson's Job Action Team; <br /> <br />requested the City Attorney's Office investigate for possible application in <br />Santa Ana a recent Supreme Court decision on regulating pornographic <br />material on newsracks; and <br /> <br />noted April was "National 'Child Abuse Prevention' Month" and encouraged <br />participation in activities to increase awareness and prevention of child <br />abuse. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson: <br /> <br />- commented on his attendance at the National Guard 160th Battalion's "Family <br /> Day," noting the City would be involved with the Guard in an upcoming <br /> emergency preparedness exercise; and <br /> <br />- congratulated the Wilshire Square Neighborhood and Roseann King on the <br /> attainment of an American Institute of Architects, Orange County Chapter <br /> "Public Realm" award recognizing Wilshire Square as a place where residents <br /> are involved in their community. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />109 APRIL 7, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />
