Councilmember Lutz reiterated his earlier announcement regarding the 4th Annual French <br />Park Jazz and Arts Festival (see Minutes page 188) and added that the Santa Aha Plein Air <br />Painting Event would be displayed at The Bowers Museum on Sunday, July 6 from 10:00 a.m. <br />till 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br /> <br />- encouraged residents to plant trees in their own property to further enhance <br /> the City's urban forest; <br /> <br />commended City staffand residents for forming a Citizen College Pool <br />Advisory Board to resolve issues on the use of the Santa Ana College <br />Pool; and <br /> <br />- reported the launching of"Summer Fun Factory," a new supervised recreation <br /> program at Alona Park. <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Moreno's query, City Manager Ream explained staff was in the <br />process of drafting a written agreement covering the use of the Santa Ana College pool. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />- requested staffprepare a thank you letter to US Secretary of;Education <br /> Richard Riley for his recent visit to Heninger Elementary School; and <br /> <br />- commended Recreation and Community Services for working to develop <br /> a joint use program for City and school district facilities and urged City staff <br /> to meet with school officials to resolve reported problems associated with <br /> the increased usage of school facilities for after hours soccer games. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 9:38 P.M. <br /> <br />The Brown Act permits the City Council to discuss certain matters without members of the public <br />present, provided the items to be discussed are posted 72 hours prior to the City Council meeting. <br />The following items were received for the June 16, 1997 Council meeting. <br /> <br />CONFERENCE WITH LABOR NEGOTIATOR pursuant to Government Code <br />Section 54957.6 <br /> <br />95.A. <br /> <br />Agency Negotiator: Kathie Romero <br />Employee Organization: Police Officers Association <br /> <br />95.B. <br /> <br />CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - EXIST1NG LITIGATION pursuant <br />to Government Code Section 54956.9(a) <br /> <br />The California Grocers' Assoc. v.
