COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Bill Wilkinson indicated the current design plans for the Garthe Reservoir would adversely impact <br />the Santiago Creek bed, reported the residents adjacent to the Creek opposed a cement channel, <br />and suggested a public hearing be held regarding the finish work on the Reservoir's north side. <br /> <br />Ron Heike supported Wilkinson's position, expressed a need for "open dialogue" regarding <br />several proposals for Northwest Santa Ana such as the 2828 N. Bristol re-use project and <br />extension of the Interstate 57 Freeway, and encouraged the City to proceed with privatizing the <br />Bowers Museum. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno reported the medians on 17th Street need watering. <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza reiterated an earlier request regarding a Thornton Park sprinkler <br />problem and suggested the City consider placing flags along major arterials to celebrate national <br />patriotic holidays. City Manager Ream indicate he would investigate both requests. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson: <br /> <br />- expressed appreciation to staff for code enforcement against illegal signage <br /> on S. Main and 17th Streets; <br /> <br />- requested an update on regulation of recycling vendors; <br /> <br />- commented on the numerous street tree and infrastructure improvements <br /> occurring throughout the City; and <br /> <br />- noted the Planning Division current projects report had lengthened significantly, <br /> reflecting an improved California economy. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br /> <br />- reported the Flower Park neighborhood recently celebrated "Streets without <br /> Crime," commemorating the neighborhood's successful transformation from <br /> gang-controlled turf to a safe family environment; <br /> <br />- noted the June 29 French Park Jazz Festival and the July 6 Plein Air Art <br /> event at the Bowers Museum were both tremendously successful and brought <br /> positive recognition to the City; and <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />212 JULY 7, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />
