COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Charles Bordenave commented regarding several issues including but not limited to: the Fire <br />Department Seagrave pumper renovation, the Flowerdale Route 22 off-ramp beautification <br />project, and high City employee salaries; and commended Councilmembers Espinoza and Moreno <br />on their excellent service to the citizens and presented them with American flags. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno: <br /> <br />requested increased graffiti removal on weekends; <br />commented on the need to improve the lawns and enforce speed at Cabrillo <br />Park; and <br />reported vacant lots accumulating trash and debris on Poinsettia Street, behind <br />the new Northgate Market, and near Fairview and 5"' Streets; <br />and noted an A-frame sign was creating a traffic hazard at Fairview and 5th <br />Streets. <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Espinoza's inquiry, City Manager Ream indicated staff would <br />provide Council with a report this week detailing the costs of installing flags along arterials during <br />major patriotic holidays. Espinoza reported his attendance at the Santa Ana "Pop Warner" <br />football opening and reminded the audience that games would be held every Saturday through <br />December at Memorial Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Richardson commented on the need, to develop an incentive program to <br />encourage removal ofunpermitted signs perhaps in partnership with the Southland Economic <br />Development Corporation,. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br /> <br />reported Codan US, the 15th largest biomedical firm in Orange County with 140 <br />employees, had moved to Santa Ana; <br />reminded the audience of the upcoming Cops for Kids Custom Car Show at the <br />Santa Ana Stadium on September 7 between I0:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; <br />noted trash pickups would occur a day later this week due to the Labor Day <br />holiday; and <br />commented on the recent Los Angeles Times article featuring the arts in Santa <br />Aha and noted in particular the upcoming opening of the Very Special Arts <br />Gallery which features works of people with disabilities. <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember McGuigan's inquiries, Fire Chief Martin explained the response <br />times in a recent Orange County Register related to the Orange County Fire Authority, not the <br />Santa Ana Fire Department, and reported on Santa Ana's outstanding performance in the recent <br />Fire Olympic Games. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 265 SEPTEMBER 2, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />
