Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />congratulated the Santa Aha High School cross-country team for being the pre- <br />season pick for the county title, the Washington Square Neighborhood for an <br />excellent newsletter; and the Floral Park Garden Club for planting the Sarah May <br />Downie Park at North Park and Flower; <br /> <br />asked that completed Planning Department customer satisfaction surveys be <br />returned directly to the City Council for a 30-day period; <br /> <br />requested staffto investigate the collection of point-of-sale taxes from Santa Ana- <br />based companies doing business on the Internet; <br /> <br />thanked outgoing Planning Commissioner Glenn Mondo for his service and <br />congratulated Jos6 Solofio on his appointment to the Planning Commission; and <br /> <br />reported Crevier BMW was sponsoring a golf tournament on November 3 to <br />benefit the On Track youth organization in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />reported Santa Ana 2000 was encouraging school principals to meet with their <br />respective neighborhood associations as a standard operating procedure; <br /> <br />noted the establishment of Project Noah, a new cooperative program sponsored <br />by the Church of the Messiah and St. Joseph's Church to assist children after <br />school; <br /> <br />suggested interested persons contact City Hall for details regarding the upcoming <br />"Santa Ana Promise" event; <br /> <br />requested a letter be sent to departing Santa Ana resident, City of Orange <br />Assistant City Manager Scott Morgan, wishing him well on his relocation to <br />northern California; <br /> <br />commented that Garden Grove Mayor Bruce Broadwater had provided him with a <br />copy of a report detailing how Garden Grove had streamlined its project review <br />process and suggested Santa Ana take advantage of Garden Grove's work; and <br /> <br />announced the Discovery Science Center had received an additional $2 million <br />from the State and an additional $1 million from the Federal government, thanked <br />State Assemblymember Jim Morrissey, U.S. Congressmembers Christopher Cox <br />and Loretta Sanchez, and U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer who had assisted in <br />securing the funds, and noted the groundbreaking will be on November 7 with the <br />grand opening of the museum scheduled for 1998. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 9:15 P.M. - 10:19 P.M. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 294 OCTOBER 6, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />
