90.A. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mike Estrada drew an analogy about the shoving incident involving Councilrnembers Moreno and <br />Franklin on February 17, 1998 (See March 2 Minutes) and World Wrestling Association matches, <br />and reported the District Attorney had declined to prosecute Councilmember Franklin's complaint. <br /> <br />Steve Delgadillo reported he was seeking space to locate "Beyond Limits," a program for <br />disadvantaged youth, in Santa Ana and requested Council assistance with a possible tenancy in the <br />Barrister Building. <br /> <br />Sean Mill expressed concern that the sign for "First American Way" had been fabricated prior to <br />the vote on the MacArthur Place development, criticized the City for funding arts activities rather <br />than repairing streets, and opined that Planning Commissioner Jos6 Solorio's recent appointment <br />to the Orange County Transportation Authority constituted a conflict of interest with his Planning <br />Commission duties <br /> <br />Charles Bordenave alleged City management was "out of control," compared salaries of City staff <br />to other elected officials, complained the Clerk of the Council "desensitized" the Minutes and <br />should be ashamed to offer assistance to persons required to file Fair Political Practices <br />Commission documents, and stated the Council majority was vindictive. <br /> <br />(Nole: 7he Clerk ~ lhe Council is the Ciiy's filing o./ficer for Fair Political Practices <br />(~onltlli,¥siott doclln~etll.¥.) <br /> <br />Juan Suarez expressed his thanks to the Police Chief for arranging a tour of the new jail; noted <br />City streets, particularly Grand Avenue, were in need of repair; indicated lots at 14~h and 17th <br />Street and Grand Avenue should be developed; expressed concern regarding the condition of the <br />17th and Grand Shopping Center; and reported overgrown weeds at 14m Street and Hathaway. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Moreno's inquiry regarding the status of an earlier request, the <br />City Attorney reported his staffwas working with Code Enforcement and would report in May <br />regarding a ban on using indoor couches as front porch furniture. <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza reported a semi-pro football team, "California Thunder," was interested <br />in relocating to Santa Ana and indicated he would provide information regarding the team to <br />Recreation and Community Services Executive Director Cleve Williams. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Richardson: <br /> <br />expressed hope tbat Councihnember Lutz who was ill would soon recuperate; <br />noted the extensive tree planting underway in the City and requested staff remove old <br />palm fronds that were creating a safety hazard; <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />I00 APRIL 6, 1998 <br /> <br /> <br />
