COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />· commented on the positive impacts of several street improvements, naming Broadway <br /> and the interim work on McFadden among other projects; <br />· reported "Legacy in Stone," an exhibit of fossils excavated during County toll road <br /> projects was open in the Old County Courthouse; <br />· commended George Upton and the Friends of the Library on their recent successful <br /> book sale to benefit the Library; <br />· suggested two parking spaces immediately south of the Main Library be converted to <br /> handicapped parking; and <br />· requested staffwork with the Chamber of Commerce to recognize individuals and <br /> organizations that rehabilitate properties significantly beyond minimum standards. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br /> <br />· commended the Wilshire Square Neighborhood on a successful dinner event prior to <br /> the recent Downtown arts opening and an excellent neighborhood newsletter; <br />· reported a Los Angeles Times article had highlighted a watchmaker whose creations <br /> feature endangered species and indicated the watches were available at the Santa Ana <br /> Zoo; and <br />· requested staff provide information regarding the work schedule and alternate routes <br /> during the Euclid street improvement project to churches and schools adjacent to the <br /> project <br /> <br />Councihnember Franklin: <br /> <br />· expressed support for a semi-pro football team in Santa Ana; <br />· thanked the Public Works Agency for timely removal of graffiti from the new school at <br /> Bristol Marketplace and suggested staff'work with the Santa Ana Unified School <br /> District to inhibit graffiti on the site; <br />· reported Riverview residents involved in the renaming process were appreciative of <br /> staffs assistance with the name change from Alona to Riverview Neighborhood Park; <br />· requested staffwork with Little League representatives to resolve access problems <br /> regarding the field lights at Riverview Park; <br />· reported the Floral Park Home and Garden Tour was scheduled for April 25 and 26 <br /> between 10:00 am. and 4:00 p.m. and would conclude at the Bowers Museum <br /> Courtyard; and <br />· clarified the District Attorney had not proceeded with his complaint against <br /> Councihnember because of the lack of conclusive evidence, and reiterated his <br /> statements regarding non-tolerance of violence. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />· reported Senator William Lockyear had proposed a bill to allow local governments to <br /> control shopping carts and requested staff track the bill on the City's behalf; <br />· asked staffto bring a presentation to Council at the appropriate time regarding the <br /> residential development proposed for 2828 N.
