CITY COUNCIL COM M ENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br /> <br />· reported Fortino Rivera had helped to establish a booster club for the Century High <br /> School Football Team and asked that he be invited to a Council meeting for <br /> recognition of his efforts and to promote the club's activities; <br />· expressed congratulations to the many individuals and organizations such as Christmas <br /> in April, Santiago residents, and the Girl Scouts who had participated in Volunteer <br /> Connection Day events; <br />· congratulated Santa Ana 2000, particularly Council Services Manager Lorraine <br /> Lazarine, on a successful youth summit; <br />· encouraged members of the audience who could, to supply jobs, internships, and <br /> transportation to Santa Ana youth who want and need employment; and <br />· noted the Laverne Wheeler Police Canine Training facility had recently opened and <br /> was open to the public on Wednesdays. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />· expressed the expectation that upcoming State bill SB854 would provide <br /> transportation dollars for Santa Ana, and commented that the Orange County <br /> Transportation Authority had suffered serious financial loss in the Orange County <br /> bankruptcy which impacted road projects negatively throughout the County; <br />· opined the 2828 N.
