COMMENTS <br />congratulated the Eugen Andres and John Coils on the grand opening of "Palm Court <br />and the Green Parrot Cafe" on May 29, and <br />invited the Council and audience to attend the ribbon cutting of Flower Street Park on <br />Saturday, June 6, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br />reiterated Councilmember McGuigan's concerns regarding the cleanliness level of <br />Downtown sidewalks. <br />again congratulated the Sandpointe Neighborhood on the excellence of its newsletter <br />and suggested copies be circulated to other neighborhood associations; <br />echoed Councilmember Lutz' kudos regarding Palm Court, <br />congratulated St. Joseph's Ballet on its recent outstanding performance and the Santa <br />Ana Historic Preservation Society on its successful Tour. <br />thanked Mayor Pulido for his work in both Washington, D.C. and Sacramento to <br />secure funding for City projects. <br />Mayor Pulido: <br />expressed his appreciation to Congresswoman Sanchez for her assistance in securing <br />$5.25 million in funding for the first phase of the Bristol Street widening project, <br />explained the City would be applying for designation as a Round II Federal Urban <br />Federal Empowerment Zone in October and opined the City's chances of obtaining <br />such a designation were good, and <br />• noted Tuesday was Election Day and encouraged everyone to vote. <br />Councilmember Moreno left the meeting at 7:51 P.M. <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 7:51 P.M.-8:31 P.M. <br />The Brown Act permits the City Council to discuss certain matters without members of the public <br />present, provided the items to be discussed are posted 72 hours prior to the City Council meeting. <br />The following items were received for the June 1, 1998 Council meeting. <br />95.A.
