 11
•8• Bridge structural Design Services
Figure 8. DMJM Harris' quality program includes quality responsibility at every
project level.
Project -Specific Quality Control Plan
Quality is essential on all engineering projects. DMJM Harris
is ISO 9001 certified and employs a quality management
system. This program incorporates quality review at each
working level from the project manager down and from the
discipline level up, and is continually reinforced during the
project. There are four components to this approach, as shown
in Figure 8. They address all aspects of the project and are
performed continually and at major milestones during project
development. They include:
1. Engineering Discipline Review. During the project, prior to
any formal submittal, the design and reports are reviewed
by the discipline managers.
2. Coordination Review. The project manager and discipline
lead engineers will review the construction documents
for coordination, accuracy, client drafting standards, and
definition of work.
3. Constmctibility Review. Following review by the lead
engineers, the QC Team will coordinate constructibility
review to verify criteria compliance, evaluate the
comprehensive quality of the design plans, and resolve
potential constructibility issues.
4. Quality Assurance/Quality Control Review. QA/QC
reviews will be conducted on an impromptu basis and prior
to each milestone submittal, These will be independent
reviews led by the Project Manager with the involvement
and management review of the QA/QC Manager and
Officer -in -Charge, Bob Matthews and Victor Martinez,
PE, respectively.
KEM4 —`—
a A•M1 +
au
190 9 02000 .
`— EWm
Figure 9. To maintain schedule
and budget compliance, the DMJM Harris Team will use a
four -step process (shown graphically in Figure 10 as follows),
which includes:
• Step 1 involves the development of an appropriate Work
Breakdown Structure (WBS) and schedule to define
the manageable work tasks; the associated budgets
for accomplishing these work items; and duration and
sequence for performing the work.
• Step 2 entails the monitoring of work progress and
determining if the project is progressing on schedule
and within budget. Key components in this step include
identification of actual time and costs accrued on each task
and accurately reporting the progress of each.
• Step 3 consists of the reporting of any variance in
the progress of the work and the establishment of the
appropriate corrective plan of action.
• Step 4 consists of reviewing the progress of both schedule
and budget and implementing a corrective action plan as
necessary.
STEP 1 • Dewbpment' STEP 2 • Meaateriry
SwRaNWUM nGa'°' .. Drawl• srt wIMN•
nxi .o -W waw Mw., Pvm9rGWG
• Tastrs% ON= &,WH
RaquFanwnh rmweur TM.r e
5[aifiuEorn AE xgaMYnaaW .laa ,) wµa Mual
na zs we .
