Proiect #2 Emergency Preparedness <br />Goal <br />Promote and support regional and sub - regional emergency preparedness efforts <br />Ob ectives <br />• Develop and/or maintain Public Education Programs. <br />• Participate in state and local risk - reduction campaigns such as: <br />• Promote individual and business preparedness and mitigation, including provision of risk <br />communication to Operational Areas, Local Jurisdictions, businesses, non -profit and <br />community based organization through building constituencies, contacts and relationships. <br />• Ensure that local OES has a program and procedures to utilize volunteers and volunteered <br />resources. <br />• Ensure state and local agencies are prepared to respond to all hazards including terrorist <br />acts. <br />• Support and assist state and local agencies' efforts to obtain equipment that can be used to <br />prevent or respond to either potential or actual terrorist acts. <br />Description: <br />The County of Orange/Emergency Management Bureau (EMB), as the Operational Area, will <br />provide educational opportunities to both the public and private sector regarding emergency <br />preparedness, as well as the role and responsibilities of the Operational Area in emergency <br />management. The EMB will continue to coordinate and provide staff support to the monthly <br />Orange County Emergency Management Organization (OCEMO) meetings and the quarterly <br />Emergency Management Council (EMC) and Operational Area Executive Board meetings. The <br />EMB will continue to collaborate with local jurisdictions, volunteer /community-based <br />organizations, and the private sector, regarding all aspects of all- hazards mitigation, <br />preparedness, response and recovery planning. <br />Performance Measures: <br />These activities will continue throughout the grant performance period from October 1, 2005 to <br />September 30, 2006. <br />Page 6 of 51 <br />
