<br />the exception that such affected employees who have completed <br />twenty-five (25) years or more of cumulative service with the City shall <br />be entitled to payment for two-thirds (2/3) of the total sick leave <br />benefit credited to his or her account upon the effective date of his or <br />her termination, not to exceed a maximum limit of 1066 hours, at the <br />rate of base pay effective on the date of such termination. <br />L. The City Manager is authorized to grant a newly appointed incumbent of a <br />SAMA classification sick leave credits up to an amount equal to any earned <br />but unused sick leave credits available to such appointee at the time of his <br />or her separation from his or her most recent previous employer. <br />10.2 Bereavement Leave. <br />A. An employee shall be granted up to three (3) days leave without loss of pay <br />in case of death of a member of the employee's immediate family. Such <br />leave is designated as bereavement leave. "Immediate family" as used in <br />this section is limited to: <br />1. Any member of the employee's household related by blood or <br />marriage; <br />2. A parent, parent-in-law, spouse, child, brother, sister, grandparent or <br />grandchild of the employee, regardless of residence; <br />3. Any other relative of the employee by blood or by marriage where it <br />can be established by the employee that as a result of such relative's <br />death, the employee's presence is required to handle funeral <br />arrangements and/or matters of estate. <br />-46- <br />
