<br />B. Whenever an employee is required to travel one way more than 500 miles <br />to attend to the death of a member of the employee's immediate family, an <br />employee may use up to sixteen (16) hours of additional leave charged to <br />their Personal Necessity Leave balance when authorized by the Executive <br />Director. <br />10.3 Militarv Leave. <br />A. Proof of Orders and Reinstatements. An employee shall be granted military <br />leave if he or she furnishes the Executive Director of Personnel Services <br />satisfactory proof of his or her order to report for duty. Upon return and upon <br />showing of proof of actual service pursuant to such orders, he or she will be <br />reinstated as provided in Chapter 9-143 of the Civil Service Rules and <br />Regulations of the City of Santa Ana. <br />B. Temporarv. Members of the reserve forces of the United States, or the <br />National Guard, granted temporary leave when ordered to duty, in <br />accordance with the Military and Veterans Code, will be granted leave with <br />pay not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days in each calendar year after one <br />(1) year's service with the City upon presenting satisfactory proof of orders <br />to and from such temporary active duties. <br />10.4 Jurv and Witness Leave. When an on-duty employee is called to serve as a juror <br />or non-party witness in any court action, he or she shall be allowed to leave for the <br />time actually required for such service without loss of pay. Each on-duty employee <br />called for such service shall present to his or her Executive Director for examination <br />the subpoena calling him or her to such service and shall pay into the City Treasury <br />-47- <br />
