<br />Mayor Pulido asked the Clerk of the Council to call the roll and asked each <br />member to orally cast his or her vote for either of the two candidates <br />nominated for the position of Mayor Pro Tem. Following is the result of the <br />roll call vote: <br /> <br />Councilmember Alvarez voted for Councilmember Alvarez <br />Councilmember Benavides voted for Councilmember Bustamante <br />Councilmember Bustamante voted for Councilmember Bustamante <br />Councilmember Martinez voted for Councilmember Alvarez <br />Councilmember Solorio voted for Councilmember Bustamante <br />Councilmember Tinajero voted for Councilmember Alvarez <br />Mayor Pulido voted for Councilmember Bustamante <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced the results of the balloting: <br />Councilmember Bustamante received four (4) votes and Councilmember <br />Alvarez received three (3) votes. The Mayor announced that Councilmember <br />Bustamante was elected to the position of Mayor Pro T em by a vote of 4-3. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />REMARKS BY NEWLY ELECTED COUNCILMEMBERS AND MAYOR <br />PULIDO <br /> <br />Councilmember Martinez <br />. Thanked her Mother for all her support and thanked the individuals who <br />believed in her including her campaign committee <br />. Thanked her grade school principal for guiding her in the right direction <br />. Thanked her new employer, Mr. Bill Cook of Conquist America for his <br />support and confidence in her <br /> <br />Councilmember Benavides <br />. Thanked each of the outgoing Councilmembers and thanked his family <br />for their support <br />. Thanked his supporters and campaign volunteers <br />. Cited the need to address the condition of streets in the City and <br />promised to make public safety a top priority <br />. Announced that he will be scheduling quarterly town meetings to provide <br />information on upcoming projects; noted that the first meeting will be held <br />December 13, 2006 at the Southwest Senior Center, and that the topic <br />would be on the City Boards and Commissions application process <br /> <br />Council member Tinaiero <br />. Thanked his wife for all her support and also his family for their <br />continuous support <br />. Noted that the City has accomplished a lot but that there is a need to <br />devote more resources to streets and libraries <br />.
