WS.A. <br /> <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />WATER ENTERPRISE <br /> <br />Water Resources Manager Tom Coughran briefed the Council on the goals <br />and objectives of the Water Resources Division, including the division's <br />mission to provide high quality water to meet the community's needs, ensure <br />adequate fire protection, and provide an efficient sewer collection system. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the issue of storm water runoff and efforts to educate <br />the community about storm drain pollution. Water Resources Manager <br />Coughran also reported on a planned program to educate residents about <br />the City's high quality, Iow cost water. Councilmember McGuigan asked that <br />the program target all socioeconomic groups including Asians and Spanish <br />speakers. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Lutz requested that Water Resources Manager Coughran's <br />presentation be made at an upcoming televised Council meeting. <br /> <br />WS.B. <br /> <br />SANTA ANA TRIANGLE TASK FORCE <br /> <br />Police Captain Bruce Carlson made a presentation on the Sant~ Ana <br />Triangle Neighborhood Task Force, including the targeted area, goals of <br />eliminating visible signs of disorder and neighborhood deterioration, mai~eup <br />of the Task Force, and strategic plan for neighborhood improvement. <br /> <br />The Council discussed previous development plans for the ai'ea, and <br />commended the Task Force for its efforts. <br /> <br /> COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Thero were no public comments. <br /> <br />90.B. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan <br />· Provided a petition to Public Works Executive Director Jim Ross signed by <br /> approximately 400 residents residing near the intersection of Newhope and Kent <br /> streets requesting installation of a traffic signal at that intersection; and <br />· Mentioned that a sign in the City Hall lobby announced that Iow-flush toilets <br /> would be given away free on November 6 at the City Yard. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA 349 OCTOBER 18, 1999 <br /> <br /> <br />
