COUNCIL RECESS -10:11 P.M.-10:14 P.M. -- TO COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT <br />AGENCY MEETING FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A MEETING OF THE HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY <br />COMMENTS <br />90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Larry Means thanked the Council for increasing the compensation of the City's <br />various boards and commissions and requested the Council consider increasing <br />the stipend paid to the Personnel Board members to $100 per meeting and the <br />Board Chair to $125 per meeting. Mayor Pulido asked the City Attorney to <br />investigate the matter. <br />Evangeline Gawronski reminded the audience that Comlink (Communication <br />Linkages) and COP (Community Oriented Policing) were co -sponsoring a meeting <br />on November 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers to address the issues of <br />overcrowding and State residential occupancy limits. <br />Florence Leach reported voters could call 567-7385 if they had not received a <br />sample ballot for the November 2 election, recommended the audience send letters <br />to the Orange County Transportation Authority regarding the high cost of the <br />Centerline Light Rail project, and urged that the "no build" alternative be endorsed. <br />90.B. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Moreno <br />• urged residents to call him at 836-0334 regarding any problems they might <br />be experiencing in their neighborhoods; and <br />• asked that the Council meeting be adjourned in honor of Andy DeMarcos, <br />an attorney with the Araujo law firm who had recently passed away. <br />Councilmember McGuigan <br />• noting the recent delivery of new telephone books citywide, reminded the <br />audience to recycle their old ones by placing them in their "recycle" trash <br />container; and <br />• reported free "low flush" toilets would be available Saturday, November 6, <br />at the City Yard on South Daisy Street and commented residents could save <br />money on both water bills and equipment cost. <br />Councilmember Christy <br />reported that a recruitment letter for members of the new Youth Commission <br />had been mailed to the Santa Ana School District on October 7 and that the <br />Clerk would e-mail applications to school principals tomorrow; <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br />iTT <br />370 <br />NOVEMBER 1, 1999 <br />
