78 <br />COMMENTS <br />• Mr. Richard explained that as part of the Reading City activities and the <br />campaign to promote literacy awareness, there would be a distribution <br />of 5000 books on Saturday at Lincoln School. In addition to this <br />project, he mentioned that the Library was working on another Reading <br />City project to obtain books of first stories for new moms to read to their <br />children. <br />• Asked Cleve Williams, Parks and Recreation Agency Executive <br />Director, to give an update on the Santa Ana Youth 2000 event at <br />Eddie West Stadium on March 19, 2000. Mr. Williams noted that <br />activities included entertainment, and many food and information <br />booths. <br />Councilmember Franklin <br />• Reminded citizens that the Primary Election was tomorrow, March 7, <br />2000, and encouraged them to vote. He further stated that the City <br />Council rarely passes resolutions relative to ballot measures, but had <br />voted to oppose Measure F because of its potential negative impact on <br />Santa Ana with respect to the jail issue.
