NEW HIGH SCHOOL AT CENTENNIAL PARK (MORENO) <br />The following members of the public spoke on this matter: <br />Al Mijares, Superintendent of the Santa Ana Unified School District <br />(SAUSD) addressed Council and presented an overview of the District's <br />plans for a joint use project at Centennial Park, including the <br />construction of a science and technology fundamental high school. <br />John Pallacio, SAUSD Board President emphasized the importance of <br />this project. <br />Sally Bach , Executive Director of the Discovery Museum and Cheryl <br />Brothers, Discovery Museum Board President discussed the terms of <br />the negotiations and agreement with the School District. <br />James Kendrick, Chair of the Board of Recreation and Parks, expressed <br />concern relative to the shortage of open space in the City and stated <br />that Centennial Park was the only regional park in the City. <br />Catherine Cate , Glen Stroud , and Julie Stroud also expressed concern <br />about the loss of open space. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 247 AUGUST 7, 2000 <br />
