COMMENTS <br /> <br />Stated that on March 19, 2001 the Council adopted a resolution <br />related to State grant funds and an agreement with Citizens in <br />Action to plan a Technology Learning Center. Since this time, the <br />City has received a request from Assemblyman Correa not to <br />pursue funding for that agency and the State is also investigating <br />the matter; she asked the City Attorney to look at ways to provide <br />these grant funds to another agency for the needed Technology <br />Center in Santa Ana <br />Commended staff for their efforts in preparing the City budget for <br />2001-02 FY <br />Asked the Council to adjourn in the memory of Anthony Oaxaca <br />Quinn, and Christian-Ramirez-Vega and, in honor of the literary <br />work of the renown author Gabriel Garcia-Marquez <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy <br /> <br />· Noted that "cruising" <br /> <br /> was once again impacting Santa Ana, <br />particularly on Bristol Street on Sunday nights. She further noted <br />that cruising causes problems not only on Bristol Street but in the <br />parking lots and within the surrounding neighborhoods. She asked <br />for support from parents, the neighborhoods and the business <br />community in resolving this problem <br />Announced that she attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for <br />Troop 265 and that John Edward Davis, a thirteen year old, <br />achieved Eagle Scout status at this event <br />Announced that she attended the very successful and entertaining <br />gala performance of the Orange County High School of the Arts at <br />the Orange County Performing Arts Center on June 3, 2001 <br />Asked that the City Council adjourn in the memory of Maurice <br />Dixon and Maria Cristina Ramos de Hermosillo, the wife of the <br />Mayor of the City of Mexicali <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem McGuigan <br />· Noted that conservation notifications are being broadcast on <br /> Cable Television Station Channel 3 to inform residents of the need <br /> to conserve energy <br />· Stated that she had seen a program entitled "Solutions Magazine" <br /> that was not advertised in the TV Guide but was shown on <br /> Channel 3 on Sunday evening; Councilmember McGuigan noted <br /> that the program seemed to contain material that may not be <br /> appropriate for a government channel and asked staff to look into <br /> this matter <br />· Complimented staff from the Fire and Police Departments in <br /> organizing the "Ride the Coast" bike event to benefit the Boys and <br /> Girls Club <br /> <br />CiTY COUNCIL MINUTES 222 JUNE 4, 2001 <br /> <br /> <br />
