Technical <br />[Telecommunications Services Category I <br />Telephone System Engineer <br />for NEC NEAX2400 PBX <br />Duties <br />Education/Certification <br />Work Experience /Skills/Knowledge /Abilities <br />Other <br />• Installs new cabling and perform cross connects at <br />Main Distribution Frame (MDF) or Intermediate <br />Distribution Frame (IDF). <br />• Installs new telephone equipment to voice outlets as <br />required. <br />• Tone, test and identify voice cables. <br />• Update and maintain all voice cable records, <br />• Programming and physical moves, adds, and <br />changes (MAC's) of existing telephone equipment. <br />• Troubleshoot problems and make appropriate <br />repairs. <br />• NEC certification in installation, maintenance and <br />administration on the NEC NEAX 2400 IPX, NEC <br />NEAX IPS 2000 and NEC IVS 20 PBX's <br />• NEC certification in installation, maintenance, and <br />administration on the NEC Inforset 408, MEC Mark <br />II, and NEC Electra Pro Elite key systems. <br />• Certification in maintenance and administration of <br />the Centigram 640 VME 6.O1D voicemail system <br />preferred. <br />• Minimum 4 years in installation and maintenance of <br />digital and key telephone systems. <br />• Ability to program large NEC PBX systems and <br />small key systems. <br />• Skills and experience troubleshooting telephony <br />related problems. <br />• Must have positive customer service attitude. <br />• Ability to communicate well with customers. <br />• Ability to work without direct supervision. <br />• Ability to work with outside vendors to resolve <br />technical problems. <br />• Must have a valid Class C Driver's license. <br />• Manual dexterity to manipulate tools, test equipment, <br />electronic devices, computers and keyboards. <br />• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 <br />pounds. <br />• Ability to read printed documentation and computer <br />screens. <br />• Ability to recognize and respond to alarm sounds and <br />equipment generated signals. <br />• May have to undergo background investigation by <br />Santa Ana Police Department. <br />
