BALL FIELD MAINTENANCE OPERATIONAL PLAN <br />Overview of the MLS Ball Field Maintenance Division <br />Major League Softball, Inc. (hereafter "MLS') has provided municipal agencies with a vast array <br />of tailored ball field maintenance programs since 1992. MLS's "Ball Field Maintenance Division" <br />is managed by Patrick May, our full time, dedicated Director of Field Maintenance Operations. <br />The MLS Field Maintenance Division is divided into five (5) geographic "Areas" in Southern <br />California and each "Area' has a dedicated "Area Lead" (refer to the attached "Field Maintenance <br />Division Organizational Chart"). Each Area Lead is fully equipped to perform every aspect of the <br />infield maintenance services specified in the City of Santa Ana's Request for Proposals. However, <br />the key ingredient in MLS's success is that Area Leads are "free to roam and inspect' the work of <br />their crew members, referred to as Tractor Operators ("TO's"). Area Leads are also available to "fill <br />in" if there is emergency involving a TO. For quick access and optimal communication, every Area <br />Lead and TO are required to carry a working cell phone at all times. <br />Presently, the five (5) Area Leads oversee a total of ten (10) TO's assigned a set of fields each day <br />that are referred to as "TO routes". The Director is directly responsible for all initial and followup <br />training and also spends a great deal of his time inspecting the work of the Area Leads and their <br />TO's. The Santa Ana contract will be assigned to MLS's "Central Orange County Area" and the <br />work will be managed on a day to day basis by Area Lead Zack Riggan. As this is an extremely <br />important contract to MLS, `the :Director will also be highly involved with the daily operational <br />details and weekly cetmgs< = £" <br />MIS understands that the ball diamonds in Santa Ana are used by a variety of groups which Have <br />diverse needs. For example, the regulation baseball field at Memorial Park is used for highly <br />competitive High School baseball play and must be maintained at a standard acceptable -to a <br />demanding coaching staff. In any City where there are a large number of fields, the infield <br />maintenance contractor has to possess the experience, equipment and staff to handle complicated <br />logistics, unique situations involving third party user groups and unforeseen emergencies. After 21 <br />years in business serving more than 20 municipalities simultaneously at all times, MLS is eminently <br />qualified to meet the City of Santa Ana's challenges. <br />Routine Maintenance Program <br />Major League Softball, Inc. ("MLS") will employ the following maintenance plan to address the <br />Daily, Weekly, Bi-Monthly and Annual tasks ball fields defined in the City of Santa Ana's Request <br />for Proposals for the twenty-three (23) infields specified: <br />The Daily Routine Maintenance Program will take into account that specific locations (referred to <br />as "high -impact areas") on each ball field endure heavy use and thus require special attention. <br />High -impact areas such as batter's boxes, catcher's and umpire's places behind home plate, the <br />pitcher's mound, the base paths, and the sliding areas around the base anchors will receive additional <br />watering and scarifying on a daily basis; and traction material will be added when needed.
