COMMENTS <br /> <br />Asked Jon Ribble, Executive Director of Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services to give an update on the hiring of park rangers. <br />Mr. Ribble reported that the agency had experienced problems in <br />recruitment for this position, however both a supervisory park ranger <br />position and a park ranger position are being filled by retired police <br />officers who are able to work 18 hours per week under their pension <br />provisions; two officers will be sharing the supervisory position and two <br />officers will be sharing the park ranger position <br /> <br />Councilmember Franklin: <br /> · Congratulated the Mayor, Council and staff on the live/work project, <br /> and thanked Planning Commissioner Don Cribb for his vision in <br /> making this project a reality <br /> Announced that May 12-18, 2002 was National Historic Preservation <br /> Week, and as part of the celebration, the Santa Ana Historical <br /> Preservation Society is holding a special open house on Wednesday, <br /> May 15, 2002 at the Dr. Howe-Waffle House and Medical Museum at <br /> 120 Civic Center Drive from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. <br /> · Noted that Bobble Rooker, a Iongtime employee of the Santa Ana <br /> Unified School District was retiring on June 18th, and asked that the <br /> Council also recognize her for her service at Hoover School with an <br /> Exceptional Citizen Award at the June 3, 2002 Council meeting <br /> · Asked Police Chief Paul Walters to review the statistics on jaywalking <br /> in Santa Ana, and the enforcement measures being taken; he <br /> emphasized the importance of educating residents on pedestrian <br /> safety <br /> · Thanked Orange County Supervisor Chuck Smith for his support of <br /> the Family Resource Center at Kennedy School <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />Miguel Pulido: <br />Noted that the three individuals in whose names the Council will <br />adjourn its meeting all loved the City of Santa Ana and gave so much <br />of their time and talents; he noted that they will all be sorely missed <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT- <br /> <br />7:59 P.M. - To May 20, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. in the Police Chief's <br />Conference Room, 60 Civic Center Plaza, 4t~ Floor, Santa Ana, <br />California <br /> <br /> In Memory of <br /> Santa Ana Police Captain Dan McCoy <br /> Herman Fink <br /> ?
