COMMENTS <br /> <br />Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of Santa Ana Police <br />Captain Dan McCoy and appealed to the community to donate <br />funds for the A4 Skyhawk Project, which was started due to the <br />vision of Captain McCoy as a memorial tribute to the marines at El <br />Toro Marine Base <br /> <br />Mayor Pre Tem McGuiqan: <br /> · Congratulated Patti Nunn, Economic Development Manager on her <br /> nomination for a Woman of Excellence award by the Orange <br /> County Business Council; she further congratulated Maria Noel, <br /> Vice President, Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary for her <br /> nomination for this award <br /> · Noted that the Police and Fire Games in June will be held at 40 <br /> locations and will feature sixty sporting events <br /> · Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of Herman Robert Fink, a <br /> long time Santa Ana resident who died at the age of 105 <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist: <br /> · Congratulated Floral Park on another successful home and garden <br /> tour on April 27-28, 2002 <br /> · Thanked the Police Department for its quick response to recent <br /> calls for assistance with traffic problems in her neighborhood, and, <br /> asked staff to provide information as to how residents in a <br /> designated permit parking district would request permit parking <br /> · Announced that Memphis Restaurant, located in the Artists Village, <br /> is now open <br /> · Asked the Council to adjourn in memory of Bevedy Narkiewicz, a <br /> Iongtime resident who was active in the Historical Society and the <br /> Wilshire Square Neighborhood <br /> <br />Councilmember Solorio: <br /> · Noted that the Gala at the new Delhi Center on May 4th was very <br /> successful and due to fundraising efforts, the center has met its <br /> match for a grant through the Weingart Foundation which will soon <br /> release $300,000 to the Delhi Center <br /> · Announced that on April 30, 2002 there was a groundbreaking <br /> ceremony for the live/work lofts in the Artists Village and asked <br /> Deputy City Manager Cindy Nelson to give an update on this <br /> project. Ms. Nelson stated that plans called for eighty-six units, <br /> with models expected to be under construction by June.
