pc:10.15.07 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO SUBMIT A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE <br />OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE FY2007 PUBLIC <br />SAFETY INTEROPERABLE COMMUNICATIONS GRANT <br />PROGRAM <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br />A. The California Office of Homeland Security has developed the Public <br />Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program (PSIC). <br />B. PSIC provides funds to local emergency first responders to assist public <br />safety agencies in the acquisition of, deployment of, or training for the <br />use of interoperable communications systems that utilize reallocated <br />public safety spectrum for radio communications. <br />C. The City of Santa Ana will be the lead agency responsible for submitting <br />the application for the FY 2007 PSIC Grant. <br />D. The City of Santa Ana Police Department has worked with the City of <br />Anaheim, the County of Orange, and cities within the Anaheim/Santa <br />Ana Urban Area to determine current capabilities and needs and have <br />established goals and objectives for implementing the PSIC Grant <br />Program. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Manager and the Chief of Police to submit a grant application to the California <br />Office of Homeland Security for the fiscal year 2007 Public Safety Interoperable <br />Communications Grant Program. <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Manager and/OR Chief of Police to execute and submit all documents and take <br />any necessary action, for and on behalf of the City of Santa Ana, a public entity <br />established under the laws of the State of California, for the purpose of obtaining federal <br />financial assistance provided by the federal Department of Homeland Security and <br />subgranted through the State of California. <br />21 A-2 <br />
