<br />ATTACHMENT A <br /> <br />Newport Beach City: <br /> <br />The City of Newport Beach proposes to use the 2007 Justice Assistance Grant funding as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Problem Statement: <br />Many residents and visitors within the City of Newport Beach have been victims of property <br />crimes. Due to the high value of the homes, automobiles and property, which is often left in <br />plain sight, the city has been targeted by criminals and criminal organizations. Many residents <br />and visitors feel a sense of security while in Newport Beach, which can lead to opportunities for <br />them to be victimized. While Newport Beach is a safe community, steps can be taken to <br />minimize the opportunities for criminals to victimize the public. Crime prevention efforts can <br />provide the community the information needed to better secure homes, automobiles and <br />property, making it more difficult for criminals to carry out their illegal acts. <br /> <br />Goal: <br />The goal of the program is to maintain a highly visible program dedicated to 1) Preventing <br />crime, 2) Disseminating correct and realistic information about criminal activity and crime <br />prevention, and 3) Enhancing the perception of security within the community. <br /> <br />Objectives: <br />Conduct Neighborhood Watch meetings, crime prevention meetings and the distribution of <br />community crime alert bulletins to keep the community informed of current crime trends in an <br />effort to better prepare the community to take crime prevention measures. <br /> <br />Quantifiable Performance Measures: <br />Conduct six Neighborhood Watch meetings, SIX Crime Prevention meetings and three <br />Community Crime Alert distributions. <br /> <br />Fundinf!: <br />Total Allocation: $12,806.00 <br /> <br />PROACT Contribution: $6,210.91 <br />Administrative Fee (1.5%): $192.09 <br />Funds Retained by City: $6,403.00 <br /> <br />Orange City: <br /> <br />The City of Orange proposes to use the 2007 Justice Assistance Grant funding as follows: <br /> <br />Problem Statement: <br />The City of Orange Police Department Traffic Bureau transitioned away from Kawasaki <br />motorcycles several years ago in favor of the much safer and technologically advanced BMW <br />Police Motorcycle. However, the City retained two Kawasaki Police Motorcycles to use as <br />trainers for new motor officers and for ongoing training.
