<br />attendance and their parents. Background information was provided to motivate students <br />and their parents to attend the program. The Program is to educate students on how local <br />government works and to prepare them for leadership positions through hands-on learning. <br />Our goal is to have 30 students enrolled in the program, which begins September 15'h with <br />an orientation session. <br /> <br />An inter-department work team will develop the agenda packet for the mock City Council <br />meeting and serve as coaches to the students to assist them to identify issues and prepare <br />study session materials for the mock City Council meeting. Motivational and keynote <br />speakers will be provided through the sessions. <br /> <br />6. YOUTH EXPO UPDATE <br /> <br />Staff presented the 2007 Youth Expo Program. The event will be held on Sunday, October <br />7, 2007 from 11 :OOam to 2:30pm at the SA College Campus Mall, in partnership with SA <br />College, SAUSD, CSUF and UCI. The 2007 theme is "Have Fun' Get Fit' Be Respectful". <br />The Concert sponsor is Target and we are looking for additional sponsors to cover other <br />items of the event. <br /> <br />7. TEEN CENTER IN THE LIBRARY - Youth Commission Role <br /> <br />Library staff made a presentation to the Youth Commission on the Teen Center at the <br />Library. The Youth Commission commented it was a good idea and will be providing input <br />on the design of the program and center. The lounge and computer area will not be set up <br />as a conventional seating arrangement, but will focus on teen preference. <br /> <br />8. UPCOMING COUNCIL ITEMS <br />. Youth and Family Master Plan <br /> <br />9. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None at this time <br /> <br />10. COMMITTEE MEMBERS COMMENTS <br /> <br />Sat Tinajero - Asked if soccer organizations were following the rules. <br />Vince Sarmiento - Stated that we need to talk to FOSAZ staff to improve their focus in the <br />marketing of the Santa Ana Zoo. <br /> <br />11. ITEMS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS: <br />. PAL Program at McFadden Center. <br /> <br />12.
