<br />Santa Ana. According to a recent mailing list through the Orange County Social Services <br />Agency, there arc currently] 66 foster/emancipated youth between the ages of] 6 & 2 I residing in <br />Santa Ana. Th~se numbers do not include homeless emancipated youth and foster youth that <br />have been returned to their biological parents but remain under the Juvenile Court supervision. <br /> <br />What kind of impact has your services made to the youth in the community? <br />Our 2005 Outcomes will illustrate the impact of our client services in a one year period: <br /> <br />Scholarships & Financial Assistance <br />Our Children's Trust Fund provides financial, educational and emergency assistance to current <br />and fornler fostcr youth, with an emphasis on those who are pursuing higher education after <br />emancipation (release from the dependency system at age] 8). <br />Over $840,000 was provided in scholarships to 259 young adults for college or trade school. <br />Awarded grants totaling $81,000 to over 500 children and young adults seeking assistance. <br /> <br />Guardian Scholars Pro!!ram <br />A nationally recognizcd program that partners with local educational institutions to provide <br />comprehensive support and resources to fonner foster youth in their efforts to gain a university, <br />community college or trade school education. <br />Provided support to 163 students. <br />24 students successfully graduated in 2005, bringing the total to 57. <br />Added 3 new Gnardian Scholar partners, bringing the total to 13 schools (CSl.JF, UCI, Orange <br />Coast College, Hope International University, Chapman University, American Career <br />College, Fullerton Community College, Concordia University, Taller San Jose, use, UCLA, <br />Santa Ana Collcge and Loyola Marymount University). <br /> <br />Risin!! Tide Communities <br />Rismg Tide offers motivated, fonner foster youth affordable, quality housing and a supportive, <br />goal-directed community for successful transition into adulthood. <br />Provided transitional housing throughout the year to a total of28 former foster youth at Rising <br />Tide's two apartment complexes. <br />Served an additional 76 recently emancipated youth with other transitional housing assistance. <br /> <br />Oran!!ewood Resource Center (ORC) <br />The 'ORC 'is a drop-in center providing daily guidance, access to resources and assistance <br />needed to become independent, including education, employment, career counseling, housmg and <br />heal1hcare. <br />Served an estimated 10 youth every day, with total youth visits of almost 1.000. <br /> <br />Peer Mentor Pro!!ram <br />Provides an opportunity for fonner foster youth to mentor teens cunently placed at Orangewood <br />Children's Home. youth in foster care and those accessing services at the ORC. <br />Held 17 sessions at the Home reaching over 350 teens and faciEtated small-group sessions at <br />135 ILP workshops for over 700 teens. <br />Developed leadership skills for 35 Peer Mentors through training and 2 off-site retreats. <br /> <br />Independent Livin!! Pro!!ram <br />Provides workshops, special events, and support services to foster youth, ages 16 to 2 I, to <br />help thcm prepare for emancipation. <br /> <br />", <br />
