H.O.P.E. Music Lab (Helping Others Prepare for Eternity dba M &M Youth Mentor Program) ($5,000 <br />matching funds): These funds will assist the Youth Mentor Program, located in the City of Garden Grove, <br />to set up a digital music lab for children ages 7 -18 years of age. H.O.P.E. is a non - profit organization <br />whose mission is to provide a myriad of support services to abandoned or abused women and children <br />from disadvantaged families. Founded in 1997, H.O.P.E. exists to turn despair into hope on the faces of <br />women and children. This lab will allow children to learn through music by purchasing digital recording <br />equipment and music supplies, and currently this program serves over 200 families per month. <br />Sid Goldstein Freedom Park Renovations ($400,000): The Sid Goldstein Freedom Park is located near the <br />Westminster Civic Center and dedicated to the memory of Sid Goldstein, a 41 -year Westminster resident; <br />and it is home to the Vietnam War Memorial, which honors both American and South Vietnamese <br />soldiers. Roses rise in abundance around the dark stone edifice in the middle of the park, while a fire <br />blazes from the center of the monument. Two bronze soldiers stare from atop the stone and there's a faint <br />sound of water falling. These funds will go toward improving walkways, developing and producing one <br />audio visual interpretative exhibit kiosk, and adding educational statues and displays. Funds will go to <br />Friends of the Abbey Centre, Inc., a non - profit organization. <br />Riverview Park Baseball Diamond Renovations ($15,000): The Santa Ana Northwest Little League <br />services 300 youth in the City of Santa Ana, and has 25 teams ranging in age from 5 to 15 years. They are <br />located at Riverview Park in Santa Ana, and have two seasons in which young people can play. Funding <br />will go to refurbish the fencing for the dugout at Riverview Park. <br />Hope Community Services, Inc. Family and Youth Literacy Program ($5,000 matching funds): Hope <br />Community Services, Inc. conducts a family and youth literacy program that provides services for <br />refugees and human trafficking victims. Over 500 seniors, most of whom are torture survivors and <br />political refugees have benefited from classes and seminars dedicated to helping them through their <br />unique experiences. These funds will go toward funding programs so that these victims can attend classes <br />put on by this non - profit organization. <br />TAVIET Language Programs ($10,000 matching funds): The Association of Vietnamese Language and <br />Culture Schools of Southern California is a non - profit organization dedicated to organizing recreational <br />events for youth to participate in cultural activities, as well as conduct research, develop, and publish <br />educational documents, study guides, and textbooks for students. These cultural activities will help <br />students contribute and improve the community in which they live, and bridge the gap of understanding <br />between young people and adults. These funds will help children's programs such as computer classes and <br />park recreational activities. <br />Abrazar, Inc. After School Programs and Summer Youth Academy in Midway City including Guitar <br />Training, Soccer and other Organized Sports ($5,000 matching funds): Abrazar, Inc.'s mission is to <br />promote the general welfare and prosperity of the very poor to medium income population in Orange <br />County. Programs and services they foster and operate are those that advance the living conditions of <br />senior citizens, the family unit and its members. Said programs and services include, but are not limited <br />to, programs and services addressing needs in mental health, housing, transportation, nutrition, education, <br />physical health, counseling, welfare and rehabilitation. <br />Historic Main Street Entry Arch ($100,000): Historic Main Street in Garden Grove is the heart of Garden <br />Grove. Lined with independent businesses and the site of a weekly classic car show, Main Street remains <br />one of Orange County's few true meeting places.
